Shark’d is a citizen science project developed to help fishers avoid depredation while out fishing. We provide feedback to the fishing community in real-time in the form of a heat map showing depredation hotspots. We also provide a way for fishers to share photos documenting depredation. The data serves the recreational fishing community first.
Citizen science is scientific research conducted either in part, or entirely, by non-scientists. Infofish believes citizen science needs to be driven by and serve the community – research that answers questions that are important to the community, and contributes to solutions for the community’s problems.
